About us

A consultancy built to finish what it starts.

Systems Inc Limited was formed on a simple observation: most business problems are not solved by more advice. They are solved by someone who will analyse the situation properly, design something sensible, and then stay to implement it.

Our story

Started in Christchurch, for Christchurch businesses.

We began the way a lot of good consultancies do - by being asked. Business owners who needed their accounts sorted also needed help fixing the process that produced the mess in the first place. The ones who wanted a new website turned out to need a clearer story about what they actually sold.

Rather than hand clients off to three different firms who would never speak to each other, we built a practice that covers all of it: the analysis, the financial discipline, and the systems and websites that carry the work day to day.

Today we work with owner operated businesses, professional practices and growing companies across Canterbury and the wider South Island, and remotely throughout New Zealand.

In short

What we are good at

  • Untangling businesses that have outgrown their own processes.
  • Turning messy financial records into decisions you can defend.
  • Replacing spreadsheets and manual steps with something that scales.
  • Building websites that earn their keep rather than sit there.
  • Taking on the odd jobs nobody else will scope.
Our approach

analysis | design | implementation

It is on our logo because it is genuinely how we work. Each stage has to be finished properly before the next one earns its place.

1. Analysis

We start by understanding what is actually happening, not what the org chart says should be happening. That means talking to the people doing the work, reading the real numbers, and tracing a job from enquiry to payment.

You get a written picture of where time, money and margin are going - often the most valuable part of the engagement on its own.

2. Design

Next we design the fix, sized honestly to your business. Not the theoretical best practice version - the one you can afford, staff and sustain.

Every recommendation comes with its cost, its trade off and what happens if you do nothing. You decide; we make sure you are deciding with the full picture.

3. Implementation

Then we do the work. Migrating the system, rebuilding the reporting pack, launching the website, training the staff who have to live with it.

We are finished when it runs without us - documented, handed over, and verified against what we promised at the design stage.

Our philosophy

Five things we will not compromise on.

These are the commitments that decide whether we take a job, and how we run it once we have.

01

Understand before advising

We will not sell you a solution in the first meeting. If someone quotes you a fix before they have seen your numbers or your process, they are guessing.

02

Plain English, always

Accounting and technology both hide behind jargon. If our report needs a translator, we have not finished writing it.

03

No lock in

You own your data, your accounts, your domain and your website. Everything is documented and handed over. Keep us because the work is good, not because leaving is hard.

04

Scope agreed up front

A written scope and a fixed price before work starts. If the job genuinely changes, we talk about it before the invoice, not after.

05

Finish the job

Analysis that never becomes implementation is an expensive document. We stay until the thing works in your business, with your staff.

06

Say no when we should

If your problem needs a specialist we are not, we will tell you and refer you on. A bad fit helps nobody, least of all our reputation in a city this size.

The New Zealand market

Built for how NZ businesses actually operate.

New Zealand is a country of small and medium businesses. Most of our clients do not have a finance team, an IT department or a marketing manager - the owner is all three, usually after hours.

That shapes everything we do. Recommendations have to be implementable by a small team. Reporting has to be quick to read. Systems have to survive staff turnover. And compliance - GST, provisional tax, FBT, Companies Office filings, payday filing - has to be handled without drama.

We also work to the reality that in New Zealand, reputation travels fast. In Christchurch it travels faster. That is a good discipline to work under, and we like it.

Who we work with
  • Owner operated trades and services businesses
  • Professional practices - legal, health, design, engineering
  • Rural and farm services businesses
  • Retail and hospitality operators
  • Not for profits and community organisations
  • Start ups that need structure before they need scale
Start a conversation

Have a look at us properly.

The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Bring the problem, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people for it.
